Hi there

Hi there

Yes of course it was checked you think the vet would have put a good chin down and you think i would have knew if it was an infection or not too I been breed for a few years to see the diff in an infection in a chin or not I would have never put him down if I thought i could do anything for him I dont all could and knew it was incontinence as soon as I read about it as everything was the same and yes was giving a full look over by vet and she totally agreed with me it was me telling her about it and this vet knows her chins.
Aileen what should I do with the mother I dont really think I should breed her again it werid 5 litters all fine and this happens with this one I so sad about the wee guy I cant look his mum in the face.

a kidney infect'n or bladder stones can cause incontinence in furries, the first can be cleared by antib's, the latter with an operation. i new a furry that had a piece of straw stuck in its sheath and it caused him to wet over himself continuously until it was found and removed. a furry should never be diagnosed without tests or solid proof or based on asumptions either through reading a book or thinking you have solved it by hearin similar stories.

If you have had alright litters in the past then is the female subject to a lot of breedback??a weak female can produce weak or deformed kits if shes been continuously bred and not rested and if thats the case its not the female thats at fault.

Hi there

Hi there

Sorry it felt like you were attacking me the vet did have a look at thew wee guy so did i. I checked him fully cleaned him twice a day for about 6 days and keeped checking him for things stuck so on.
The female has always been rested for at least 6 months afterwards she has never had breed back always been taking away from male before she gives birth so this has never happened to her this happened one to one of my chins and she was reasted for about 8 months or so maybe longer and went on to have great kits she also a pedigreed chin with the father coming from aileen so it's not that they carry anything from their families both are in good health the female has been checked over too and is in good health and weight i in the middle of booasting her back up she will now be on her own for a long time to get her back to very good health you saying she will be fine to carry on having kits as i read if a chin had a kit with incontinece it better never to breed with her again ?
The vey was in no two minds about the kit being in good health apart from the incontinence which cant be cured in such a young kit and would not have a good quality of life with it as they will be very sore with weeing on themselfs all the time I know what i did was right and the vet did too if their was anything i could have done i would have even if i ment alot of expense as I keep money aside for my chins in such cases so it was not the fact of money that he was put down i know it was better for him and really gutted about it and dont need people thinking i did this for all the wrong reasons as not true.

how old is your female and how many litters has she had, taking into the fact that she shouldn't have been bred with until she was around 10 months old

Hi there

Hi again

I have been breeding for a few years now learned alot from aileen herself I know how to breed chins my female 3 years old and has had about 4 litters the male is from aileen and he must be about 2 soon I know where they both came from and know their background their has been no problems like this in any of their families and they are both perfectly healthy their is not much you cant tell me about chins that i already know

if the male is now 2 years old, he shouldnt have been in breeding until he was around 10 months old so if hes now only two shes had four litters in that short space of time, no wonder the kits werent healthy then, I would say she needs a very long rest, she must have been victim to a few breedbacks too. If you have kept chins for around 3 years i am afraid you cant know it all, after keeping chins for way longer than that i am still learning every day. So in essence no one knows it all

Hi Lisa,

I would say do what you feel is best.If you breed again with her after she has been rested you will just worry anyway incase it happens again.I know how you are with your chins

I have never know it happen again ,if it was me then i dont take the chance, however i have never had it with one of my females.

At the end of the day you will do whats best for her..

Take care

[color=darkblue:d416fec6fb]To 'Guest' a little more compassion and less attack is called for here. We know Lisa personally have done for years. The female chinchilla is 'three' years old 'not' two. Lisa's care of her chinchillas is well known by members here.

Please think before you add here and as Aileen says come out from being anonymous!
Any further attacks from you on Lisa's care of her chinchillas will be deleted.[/color:d416fec6fb]
