Feeding your rabbits

Most people will have read a few books before buying their first rabbit. The purpose of this site is to have a place some owners can meet and discuss their rabbits or pets.

I breed purebred Lionhead rabbits. My son Mathew who is eight breeder with my help dwarf lop eared rabbits.

Feeding of rabbits is simple a supply of food on a regular basis and fresh water each day.

We also give our rabbits plenty of veg and fruit,all our rabbits love apples,carrots,cauliflower and Alfalfa ready grass.

Veg&fruit they can eat:-

pears:
apples:
grapes:
parsley:
kiwi fruit:
carrots:
celery:
turnip:
spinach:sweetcorn:
cabbage:


Those can all be added in moderation with rabbit pellets and good quality hay added every day.
Snack treats:-

hard sliced dried bread:
crispbread:
twigs from willow or fruit tree such as apple or pear: make sure they are well washed twigs.

sweets:
biscuits:
cookies:
potato crisps:
chocolate:
rhubard leaves (they are poisonous)
Rules for good healthy feeding:-

never give frozen or cooked food:
wash all fresh food before offering it:
dont change the diet too quickly:
a varied menu is important to make sure they get a proper nutritional and balanced diet:
Do not give any fruit or veg you would not eat yourself.
Fresh water every day in needed always keep bottles well washed and sterilised to prevent build up of algae.
