Chinchilla sandWhat kind of chinchilla sand do you use.
Not sure if a lot of you know but you can get the very fine one like flour or the normal chinchilla sand.

Hi Aileen,
We use both the normal sand and the dust on the run up to the show, (dust with the windows and doors open and the fans on)
We were out tonight giving the last baths before Sundays Show and trying to sort out next years pairing's and it is so dusty in there, next week its spring cleaning time to try and get rid of the dust thats everywhere and rearranging time.

We are showing 6 or 7 at this show, all males and all apart from 1 priming . For the next Scottish show we have another 4 to add to that, they are all 3 months old at the mo but all look stunning, its just a shame that they weren't born a month earlier. Steve's going to try and get to some English shows this year for some good assesment as well.

I have seen Aileen a while ago after using this fine sand in the sandbaths!
One wonders what it does to the chins long term? after all they are in close contact with it both while and after bathing in it.

did make amess dident it mum.
They say it takes the dampness out your chins coat but the minute you take the chinchillas outside the dampnes goes for the fur anyway.
If i ever have to use it i use 50 .50
I do find it good for cinchillas that have allergies to the sand.

Hi all
I do use both sands I tend to swap over every so often but my lot prefre the finer stuff as they have longer baths but it's a nightmare for me to walk about in the room as it's just covered in sand the other stuff just does not do that and it amkes it easier for me to swap over every so often as i end up covered in sand before i get back out of the chin room

We do use it for chinchillas that have a allergy to the course sand and they are ok with the fine.

i have both sands but only use the sepiolite one now as i found the pansil (extra fine) used to give me chest problems and i never generalyl have any.
Also with the chins beiung in the house the fine dust got EVERYWHERE even worse than normal stuff
