Chin wood[color=blue:01b3928e94][size=18:01b3928e94]Hi everyone,
I have copied this from KC and I am looking into getting supplies of safe wood for chins. If there is anyone here who is interested please let me know. This project is in its early stages, but I hope to be up and running in the not too distant future.
I have spoken to a couple of tree fellers'/pruners, who are happy, it would seem to supply apple wood, as and when they get a contract, one though I think is smelling the scent of money and wondering how much he can charge me. I also spoke to a very helpful and imformative gentleman from the forrestry commission. They have willow forrests and are prepared to allow me a permit to assist them is maintaining a small patch of forrest. I'll have to pay for the permit, Ray and I are going to look at the willow this weekend and I am to meet the guy from the commission next week. So watch this post . They also have other wood forrests and I am investigating whether these woods are safe for chinchillas, I am informed that none of the trees are treated, which is great.
I am thinking that I would offer the wood, unprepared and prepared, any thoughts from my KC friends would be appreciated. Also should I send set amounts or cost for amounts people want, what would you all want?

It would certainly cut down on your work if you can sell it unprepared but you would need to put baking instructions on it.
I don't know much about wood so can't say if the bark starts to rot down with mould etc as does fruit and so on after a certain time.
Maybe check out this? dont want bacteria multiplying.
Note* dont go into a panic on this. I am totally ignorant on wood treatment apart from baking it. Was just a thought which crossed my mind Lise ~mum~
will add this it group too in case someone has the answers there.
