15 day old kit with misaligned teeth. Feeling gutted. :(Not sure if this is an emergency, more the beginning of an ongoing concern...
What is the best thing to do in this situation?
15 days ago I had 2 wilson white kits born, 1 male, 1 female.
When born, the male kit was bigger than the female. Since then the female's weight has caught up and slightly overtaken that of the male.
Both kits are currently feeding well.
The male is about 105g at 15 days old.
Last night I noticed something odd and had a closer look.
The male kit, Zorro has misaligned incisors.
His bottom teeth are placed in front of his top teeth like an underbite.
His top teeth slant right and backwards (inwards) slightly. They look a bit twisted.
His teeth are surprisingly long compared to those of kits the same age.
I'll try to get a clear photo later today.
Both parent's teeth showed no signs of this.
Mum's teeth are currently looking a bit whiter than usual. Given her some cuttlefish for the calcium. Also, Zorro's sister's teeth look normal.
I will be booking in with the vet a little later today.
Just wanted a little advice first.

Hi Emma,
is the kits teeth white or yellow?
I dont like the fact that the bottom ones are longer and over lap the top ones.
The vet will cut them down and then see what happens.

Zorro's teeth are creamy coloured. they have a yellow hue.
We went to the vets this afternoon.
Zorro had his top teeth clipped sort and also his bottom teeth trimmed a bit. His bottom teeth are normal. It's the top ones that are misaligned.
Since getting back he's been acting a lot happier. He was grouchy and grumbling about just about anything before his teeth were clipped but he's really perked up now.
We'll be going back in 2 weeks for a check-up and possible re-trimming.

Had another teeth trim today.
This is the 3rd trim. If it is having an effect, it is slow.
Different vettoday, but after looking at case notes she got all negative and decided the trims aren't helping. She's suggested an operation to remove Zorro's teethwhich may not be successful or having him PTS.
She also made a messy job of the trimming.
She said his teeth were brittle and looked worried about doing more harm than good. If I knew where to get some of the cutters used for trimming the teeth I would do it myself. 
Last time before this felt more positive.
Feeling rotten today. 
Would like the opinion of the 1st vet (he wasn't in at the time).
Not sure what to do.

oh no im really sorry to hear that i do hope that if you decide to get his teeth removed that everything goes well it horrible when you have something like that and very worrying goodluck with everything ok

I feel a bit wary about that vet. I have the distinct feeling she doesnt seem to know much. ~mum~ [/color:d307c07581]

He's going to have to be put down.
Even if his top teeth did straighten up he would still have an underbite which would cause him more difficulties.
I'm going to have to let the little fella go. He's not going to improve.
I'm going to miss him.

Ohhhh Emma I am so very sorry toots. My thoughts are with you at having to make this difficult but very responsible decision.
You fought all the odds to try to do your utmost but sometimes there are things we can't change to the way we would like things to be.
Will be thinking about you and the wee guy and sending hugggs of comfort and strength to you Emma.
