a chins penis is like a telescope.when checking for hairring, wrap chin in a towel and get someone to hold him securely.lubricate your fingers with ky gel or just plain tepid water if there is nothing else on hand,Try not to use vasaline as it is not water soluble.very gently hold the penis with one hand and ease it our of the sheath , holding the sheath with other hand.if done slowly and gently it will not harm him.when it is out fully you will see where it joins the sheath.keep it lubricated.there may be a hair ring or sometimes just an odd hair.sometimes it can be wrapped tightly around and you will need to very carefully cut the ring with small nail scissors.do not attempt to cut if the chin is struggling.when it is clear of hair lubricate and ease the sheath back over the penis.
This is a hair ring on a light coloured chin |

Hi Lisa, sorry I haven't been around lately. I know Aileen knows you personally and has already said you can phone anytime you need help.
Re: hair/fur rings. We have an article from Debbie in the health reference section on this.
two research pics from our KC archives group

Also see here at Sally's site Chin Care on hair/fur rings
http://www.chincare.com/HealthLifestyle/Healing.htm#hringprolapsed
there you can read even more on the subject. Sally has for the past few years done extensive research on all aspects of chinchilla care and health etc. and well worth a visit. Our group Kingdom Chinchillas is marked there on the ALL* STAR site. at top of page.
These sites in that section have all been well checked out by Sally so has the advise given on them.
Hope this helps for future reference for you should it happen again
