As you all know we are leading up to Fire work night.

We have them going of allready here so have started putting the radio higher every night.

If you start now with a radio with your chins now and put the volume up every night ,by the time it is Firework night they will be use to the loud radio and it will drown out the bangs of the fireworks.

If you cant get a radio then turn on your air con or dehumidifier to help provide a constant source of background noise that might help, this will also help keep some air circulating if you close the windows to keep noise levels down too.

Luckily we havent had any go off yet. Fingers crossed we dont get too much. Luckily we dont have any small kits right now, but do have some pregnant mums.

Thanks for reminding us Aileen almost forgot it was near that time again.

He was only a wee pup this time last year and I don't think he really noticed as we took him out earlier during the day and then distracted him at night.
This year though he is very aware of things that go on outside, barking when people come into the garden, when there are strange noises outside (Car doors opening and closing) etc So we will be keeping our fingers crossed and all windows shut and TV full blast.
There are loads of things for sale at the moment to help dogs.
A cd that you can play firework noise to them at a low level first then build it up so they are used to it.
An airfreshener that secretes the same pheromones that the mother passes on through her milk, this acts as a comforter to dogs of any age and calms them. however I don't think I would like the house to smell like... well?lol

What a great idea Steve. Wonder if this will work for chinchillas too? Always a scarey time when newborn or days old kits likely to be hurt if mum becomes frightened and jumps about cage.
You going to try it Aileen? ~mum~
